Registered voters in the Houston area can take advantage of free transportation to cast their ballots in the 2024 elections. The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is offering complimentary round-trip rides on local bus services, METRORail, METRO curb2curb, and METROLift to ensure easy access to polling locations.

To utilize this service, voters simply need to present their voter ID or any approved voting documentation to the bus operator or fare inspector. This free ride initiative is available throughout METRO's service area during two key periods: Early Voting, from Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Nov. 1, and on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

To further assist voters in finding their polling locations, METRO has partnered with Vote Houston, a nonpartisan organization that provides educational resources on voting. Voters are encouraged to visit VoteHouston.org for more details on polling locations and voting procedures.

Voters can plan their trip to the polls by using the RideMETRO app or visiting RideMETRO.org. METRO's Customer Service team is also available to help with trip planning and answer questions. For assistance, voters can call or text 713-635-4000.

This initiative underscores METRO's commitment to promoting civic engagement by making voting more accessible for all Houstonians.
