Many gathered at the Sylvan Theater near the Washington Monument on Saturday to participate in the “Hands Off!” rally, a large-scale demonstration organized in opposition to what organizers describe as authoritarian overreach by President Donald Trump and tech magnate Elon Musk.

Among the prominent figures addressing the crowd was Congressman Al Green (D-TX), who delivered a forceful speech highlighting his concerns over recent federal actions and policy shifts. In a significant announcement, Rep. Green stated his intention to file articles of impeachment against President Trump, citing threats to democratic institutions and key social safety net programs.

The rally drew a wide spectrum of participants, including civil rights activists, healthcare advocates, and political leaders, many of whom expressed alarm over what they perceive as escalating executive power and influence by private interests in government affairs.

Organizers of the event framed it as a unified call to action against attempts to erode long-standing federal programs and democratic norms. 

While the White House has not yet issued an official response to Rep. Green’s announcement, the declaration marks one of the most direct congressional challenges to President Trump’s administration since his return to office.
