The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is inviting citizens to apply for the Spring 2026 Citizens Police Academy, a program designed to provide an inside look at the operations and services of the Sheriff’s Office. Applications and nominations are now being accepted online for this popular program.

The 11-week academy begins January 15, 2026, at the Gus George Regional Law Enforcement Academy, 1521 Eugene Heimann Circle in Richmond, Texas. Classes are scheduled on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature presentations from all major division commanders, offering participants an in-depth understanding of law enforcement operations.

Participants will tour the new regional training complex and visit other Sheriff’s Office facilities, including the Detention Center and Emergency Communications Center, as well as the Justice Center and Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The curriculum covers Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, human trafficking, inmate management, and the training process for telecommunicators, jailers, and deputies.

Attendance is free, and a total of 35 participants will be selected. Those accepted will have the opportunity to meet the Sheriff’s Office executive and management staff, including Sheriff Eric Fagan, along with program specialists and subject matter experts.

Applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on January 1, 2026. Classes begin January 15, 2026, with commencement scheduled for April 2, 2026. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal arrest record. Registration is available online here.

The program offers a unique opportunity for community members to gain meaningful insight into law enforcement operations and become more informed partners in public safety.
