The Women In Industry Conference is a collaborative effort involving Galveston College and other consortium members, including Alvin Community College, Brazosport College, College of the Mainland, Houston Community College, Lee College, Lone Star College, San Jacinto College, and Wharton County Junior College. Representatives from these institutions will be available throughout the event to discuss education and training programs, financial aid options, student services, and career pathways.
As of January 30, 2025, several leading industry sponsors have confirmed their participation, including ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, Worley, Chevron Phillips Chemical, OxyChem, The Chemours Company, PCL Industrial Construction, Olin, Arkema, INEOS, Shell USA, Turner Industries Group LLC, Freeport LNG Development, L.P., Dow, and Bechtel.
Vera Lewis-Jasper, dean of technical and professional education at Galveston College, expressed her enthusiasm about the conference. "Hosting the Women In Industry Conference is truly the highlight of my career," she said. "Over the past eight years, we have empowered thousands of girls and women to pursue careers in male-dominated industries, breaking barriers and building new futures. This conference provides vital career opportunities and fosters meaningful connections between young women and the trailblazing professionals who have paved the way. We encourage middle school and high school girls, college students, veterans, and women in career transitions to join us for a day that could change the course of their lives."
In addition to keynote addresses from leaders at ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, and Worley, the conference will feature a variety of breakout sessions running from 9:15 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit exhibitor booths throughout the day, allowing for hands-on engagement with companies and organizations.
