Tax season doesn’t have to mean stress—at least not for residents of Fort Bend County. In a shining example of community care and support, Fort Bend County Libraries are once again teaming up with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to offer free income-tax preparation assistance to qualifying residents.
Running now through April 15, this initiative brings financial peace of mind to low-to-moderate income households, especially seniors, by helping them navigate the often-intimidating world of tax returns—absolutely free of charge. That’s right: no fees, no fine print—just experienced, friendly tax prep volunteers ready to help.
💼 What You’ll Need to Bring:
To make your visit smooth and productive, be sure to bring:
A photo ID
Social Security cards for yourself and dependents
Last year’s tax return
Any W-2s, 1099s, or income documents from 2024

Any documents needed to complete your return
While tax forms themselves are not provided, you’ll walk out with expert assistance and peace of mind.

💡 Why It Matters:
With inflation squeezing household budgets and tax law changes leaving many confused, AARP’s tax-aide program is more important than ever. This is more than just a service—it’s a lifeline for families, retirees, and everyday people looking to file correctly without forking over a fortune to tax preparers.
For those in the Houston and Fort Bend area, this is a reminder that support is always closer than you think—and it might just be at your local library.
