Aldine ISD
Aldine ISD’s Multilingual Department is inviting Spanish-speaking families to take part in the fourth annual Festival de Primavera, a virtual event dedicated entirely to the Spanish language. Unlike most district events that offer translation services, this festival will be conducted completely in Spanish, providing a unique space for cultural and educational engagement.
Set to take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., the online gathering offers families the opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate bilingualism. Those who pre-register will have the chance to win exciting prizes, including laptops, iPads, and books! Only the first 500 registrants will be entered into the raffle, and they must attend the live broadcast to be eligible.
This year’s festival features two distinguished guest speakers. Andrés Ruzo, a geothermal scientist, author, and explorer, is best known for his research on Peru’s “Boiling River of the Amazon.” His work bridges science and traditional knowledge to promote environmental conservation. Joining him is Dr. Gilberto D. Soto, a music professor and bilingual education expert, whose contributions to early childhood music learning have been recognized across the U.S. and internationally.
In addition to insightful discussions, the festival will showcase pre-recorded student performances, offering families an enriching and entertaining experience. As the event approaches, organizers will provide registered participants with a link to join the virtual celebration.
Pasadena ISD
Pasadena ISD and HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast recently teamed up to host an education fair at Dr. Kirk Lewis Career & Technical High School on March 6, 2025. The event provided students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths within the healthcare industry, both clinical and non-clinical, helping them make informed decisions about their futures before graduation.
The fair featured interactive sessions and presentations covering various fields, including marketing and communication, HVAC services, technology, and culinary careers. Students also had the chance to visit information tables, where they could engage in one-on-one discussions about trade skills and career opportunities.
By partnering with local organizations like HCA Houston Healthcare, Pasadena ISD continues to connect students with real-world career possibilities. Events like this ensure that students are well-prepared to enter the workforce and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Klein ISD
For the first time in district history, three Klein ISD high schools qualified for and competed in the Texas Academic Decathlon. Klein High, Klein Forest, and Klein Collins showcased exceptional skill and dedication at the Regional Tournament, sweeping the top three spots. Klein High secured first place, Klein Forest took second, and Klein Collins placed third, earning all three teams a spot in the State competition. Klein Cain and Klein Oak also had students who earned individual medals.
Klein High and Klein Forest advanced to the state-wide tournament in San Antonio, while Klein Collins qualified for the Frisco tournament based on their high rankings among all regional teams. At the State tournaments, the teams continued to excel, with several students earning individual medals in categories such as Essay, Interview, Art, Speech, Mathematics, Science, and Economics.
The Texas Academic Decathlon challenges students in ten rigorous events, including speeches, essays, interviews, and subject exams spanning Art, Economics, and Science, culminating in the highly anticipated Super Quiz. Teams spend months preparing for these competitions, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence.
Klein ISD celebrates the dedication and achievements of its Academic Decathlon students and coaches, recognizing their hard work and success on this prestigious stage.
