Houston’s fried chicken scene is getting a flavorful milestone moment this weekend as a fast-rising local favorite marks its first year in business with giveaways, community appreciation, and signature Caribbean-inspired heat.

Southern Jerks HTX, located inside a gas station on Gears Road, is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday, April 25 with a customer appreciation event designed to thank the community that helped turn the hidden spot into a citywide food destination.

Known for its crispy fried chicken and bold island-inspired seasoning, the restaurant has built a strong following under co-owner and head chef Jabrill Riddick, who has helped transform the unconventional location into one of Houston’s most talked-about fried chicken stops.

The celebration will kick off with a limited giveaway for early arrivals. The first 25 guests in line will receive a free 5-wing combo, available on a first-come, first-served basis. After the giveaway, the restaurant will offer an all-day anniversary special featuring a 5-piece wing combo with fries for $3.65, a nod to the restaurant’s one-year milestone.

Riddick says the promotion is meant to reflect gratitude to customers who helped fuel the restaurant’s growth from a small, unexpected concept into a local favorite known for bold flavor and consistent word-of-mouth buzz.

Over the past year, Southern Jerks HTX has gained attention for turning an unassuming gas station location into a destination for fried chicken lovers across Houston, with guests drawn in by its crispy texture, Caribbean flavor influences, and straightforward, high-impact menu.
