Fiesta Texas - Fiesta de los Muertos

Looking for a quick family getaway from Houston this fall? San Antonio is close enough for a weekend escape, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas is giving families plenty of reasons to make the drive.

Fright Fest returns to Six Flags Fiesta Texas on select nights from Sept. 11 through Nov. 1, bringing a Halloween season that mixes family-friendly daytime activities with after-dark thrills, haunted attractions and plenty of spooky atmosphere.

This year’s celebration is part of Six Flags Entertainment’s largest Halloween celebration in company history. At Fiesta Texas, the lineup includes an all-new The Conjuring Universe haunted maze, the return of SAW: Legacy of Terror, four original haunted mazes, seven scare zones, live entertainment, nighttime rides and expanded interactive experiences.

For families traveling from Houston, the best part may be that the Halloween fun starts before the sun goes down.

Tricks and Treats

Daytime Halloween Fun for the Family

On Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 12 through Nov. 1, Tricks and Treats offers a more kid-friendly way to celebrate Halloween.

Families can enjoy trick-or-treating, costume contests, live Halloween shows, family entertainment, rides and seasonal surprises throughout the park.

It is essentially the two-for-one version of a Halloween outing: playful family fun during the day, followed by a much darker experience after sunset for guests looking for bigger scares.

When the Sun Goes Down, Things Get Spooky

Fright Fest transforms the park after dark with six haunted mazes, seven scare zones, nine live entertainment experiences, nighttime rides, seasonal food and beverages and an expanded interactive lantern experience.

The new The Conjuring Universe maze takes guests into the world of the horror franchise, with experiences inspired by the Warrens' occult museum, Annabelle, The Nun and the Perron farmhouse.

Meanwhile, SAW: Legacy of Terror returns with a trip into Jigsaw's twisted world, where guests face scenes and traps inspired by the SAW films.

Two new scare zones are also joining the 2026 lineup.

Cirkus Bezerkus: Big Top Terror brings sinister clowns and sideshow performers into a creepy carnival setting, while Alley of the Dead turns a once-beautiful street into a neon-lit nightmare inhabited by zombie punks and other creatures.

Grab a Lantern and Get Interactive

Fiesta Texas is also expanding its interactive lantern experience, with more than 25 interaction points throughout the park.

Guests carrying the specialty lanterns can trigger hidden effects, awaken lurking monsters and discover surprises throughout the Fright Fest experience.

And if roller coasters are your family's thing, the park's rides take on a completely different feel after dark, with fog, lighting, sound effects and the Texas night creating an entirely new experience.

Don't Forget Oktoberfest

Halloween isn't the only reason to make the trip.

Oktoberfest runs on select dates from Sept. 5 through Oct. 31, featuring live music and entertainment, specialty food offerings, seasonal flavors and beverages and a festive fall atmosphere.

For families planning a San Antonio weekend, it provides another way to enjoy the park before the Halloween festivities take over.

Thinking About Going Back Next Year?

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is already selling 2027 Gold and Prestige Passes. New passholders can receive unlimited visits for the remainder of 2026 and all of 2027, along with admission to Fright Fest, Tricks and Treats and holiday events.

The Texas region pass program also includes access to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, along with benefits such as free parking and food and merchandise discounts. Eligible purchases made by Sept. 7 can also include one bonus Bring-A-Friend Free ticket.

Passholders will also be among the first to experience Werewolf Gorge, billed as the world's longest family launch coaster, when it debuts at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in 2027.

For Houstonians looking for a quick fall road trip, San Antonio offers an easy change of scenery without requiring a long vacation. Add a day or two in the city, make Six Flags Fiesta Texas the main event and you've got a family getaway with rides, fall festivities and just the right amount of Halloween fright.
