Houstonians looking for a spring break escape, a weekend getaway, or even a head start on summer road trip plans now have a stunning new destination just a few hours from the city. Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas has unveiled The Big Spring, a 2.2-acre swimming lagoon, as part of a more than $100 million multi-year resort transformation.
Located on 300 acres in the Texas Hill Country, the resort’s renovation includes the lagoon, the waterfront Rancher Hall event venue, and state-of-the-art Toptracer Range™ golf bays, all designed to elevate the guest experience while honoring the property’s history as the Rogers-Wiseman Ranch, a cattle ranch that operated for over a century.
The Big Spring Lagoon
The human-made lagoon is the first in the central U.S. resort market powered by Crystal Lagoons® technology, offering sparkling blue water, white sandy beaches, premium cabanas, and water sports for all ages. The lagoon is built using sustainable technology that requires only 2% of the energy of a conventional swimming pool system and can use a variety of water sources.
The addition of The Big Spring expands the resort’s existing five-acre water park, which features a 900-foot lazy river, multiple pools including an adults-only Texas-shaped pool, a two-story water slide, and a FlowRider® wave simulation machine.
Rancher Hall and Luxury Villas
Overlooking the lagoon, Rancher Hall provides 5,600 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space, featuring vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, oversized windows, and sweeping lagoon views. The venue is ideal for weddings, corporate events, or cocktail hours beneath the Hill Country sky.
For a more private experience, the resort offers five standalone villas, each named for a historic Texas Hill Country river. Each 2,336-square-foot villa includes four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, stylish living areas, outdoor patios, and exclusive amenities such as twice-daily housekeeping, a dedicated villa host, and access to Windflower Spa, which recently received a full renovation including new event space, updated pools, and enhanced wellness facilities.
Golf and Dining Upgrades
The resort’s Toptracer Range™ golf bays provide 35 bays—20 covered and 15 uncovered—with advanced analytics and giant LED screens, combining high-tech golf with resort relaxation. Guests can also enjoy new dining options including Aunt Di’s Comfort Station, Antlers Lodge, Cactus Oak Tavern, Charlie’s Long Bar, and the indoor/outdoor Woodbine Bar, serving locally-inspired cocktails and cuisine.
Modernized Guest Experience
All guestrooms and suites were renovated in 2023, featuring hardwood flooring, 65-inch UHD TVs, walk-in showers, updated lighting, and contemporary décor. Retreat rooms on higher floors offer special concierge service, late checkout, and access to upgraded amenities.
With the completion of the lagoon and resort-wide enhancements, Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas now combines a Texas beach experience, luxury accommodations, world-class golf, spa amenities, and flexible event spaces, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and groups planning a short escape or a longer summer adventure.
