NBA Legend and former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan announced on Tuesday he will donate $1 million to relief efforts in the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, CBS News reported. “I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently,” Jordan said in a statement, shared on Twitter by his spokeswoman and manager, Estee Portnoy. “My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and those who have lost loved ones.”

EPA Awards over $1.3 million to Texas Universities to Research Potential Environmental Impacts in Waste Streams

Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced approximately $1.3 million to fund research by two academic institutions in Texas. Texas A&M AgriLife and Texas Tech University will work to expand the understanding of the environmental risks posed by per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in waste streams. They will also work to identify practical approaches to manage the potential impacts as PFAS enters the environment.

The Houston Museum of African American Culture (HMAAC) and Deborah Colton Gallery are pleased to present Riding the Tiger: The Art of Bert Long, Jr., an exhibition of the late Houston’s artist work October 24-November 9, 2019. The museum, which dedicated its Bert Long, Jr. Gallery to show emerging local artists five years ago, and the Gallery, which represents the Bert Long, Jr. Estate, began planning this exhibition over a year ago.
