Libraries Offer Introductory, Hands-On Computer & Technology Classes

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff will present a variety of free, introductory computer classes this month. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer and technology programs. The classes will take place in the Computer Labs of the libraries; seating is limited and reservations are required.

Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company is participating for the third time in the national reading of #ENOUGH: PLAYS TO END GUN VIOLENCE, a project where theaters all over the country perform readings on the same evening of competitively selected plays about gun violence written by teenagers. This year we are collaborating with Firecracker Productions, who will be bringing in high school student actors to join our adult actors in the reading of the scripts.

Harris County Reports Record-Breaking Early Voting Numbers During First Week

Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth reports that voters have cast more than 54.4K in-person ballots during the first four days of Early Voting for the November 7 Joint General & Special Elections. More people are choosing to vote early compared to the most similar election in 2015, when only 36.3K voted in person during the same time.

Houston Ballet has appointed current Associate Conductor Simon Thew as the company’s next Music Director and Chief Conductor, effective July 1, 2024. He will succeed longtime Music Director Ermanno Florio, who is stepping down at the end of the 2023-2024 season after 32 years in the role.

It is a time when people gather with family and friends to express gratitude and appreciation for the good things in their lives.
