Photography by Vicky Pink - On Sunday, July 7, 2013, Houston Style Magazine was on at Lucy’s Ethiopian Restaurant as they hosted a candlelight prayer vigil for former South African President Nelson Mandela. Community leaders, members of faith community, African community, and many others gathered together to pray for the ailing leader. The 94-year-old former South African president is suffering from a reoccurring condition, which has put him in hospital three times since December. “Nelson Mandela has been such a prize fighter for justice, equality, and freedom for so long for Africans. His regal leadership and sincerity for people has touched millions of heart around the world and has been a heavy positive influence on all,” stated restaurant owner Suzani Grant. Some in attendance were Bronson Woods and Dr. Alma Allen.
