Photography by Vicky Pink On Thursday, August 7, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Mickey Leland Memorial Park for the wreath laying ceremony in honor of former Congressman George Thomas “Mickey” Leland. The ceremony was one of three international ceremonies to honor the life and legacy of the late congressman who was a champion for humanity. It was held on the 25th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that took Congressman Leland’s life along with several others. Some in attendance at the event hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee were Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Algenita Scott Davis, Gene Locke, Deloyd Parker, Rhonda Skillern-Jones, and Erica Lee Carter.
