Photography by Vicky PInk On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Houston City Hall as the families of James Brown and Bobby Byrd received a proclamation from Mayor Annise Parker and Houston City Council. August 12, 2014 was dubbed James Brown and Bobby Byrd Day in the City of Houston. Brown and Byrd were celebrated for their dedication to rhythm and blues. Byrd was a rhythm and blues singer, songwriter and record producer who discovered Brown, the Godfather of Soul and founder of The Famous Flames.
