Photography by Vicky Pink - On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Lucy’s Ethiopian Restaurant and Lounge for the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. Not your ordinary cup of coffee, Ethiopian coffee is something that is a celebration of the human spirit. Susani Grant, Lucy’s owner, makes the special coffee in 1 ½ hours using the same process that is used in Ethiopia. Beginning by roasting organic coffee beans from the mountains of Ethiopia, the beans are then grinded and boiled in clay pots before the first cup is poured. The process is a treat for nose and eyes. Some sharing in this honored tradition were Susani Grant, Ayda Grant, and Carlecia D. Wright.
