Photography by Semetra Samuel On Saturday, May 3, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at The Villagio as the official media sponsor for The Sparkles of Life High Heels & Hats Mother’s Day Brunch. Keynote speaker for the event was none other than Mariah Huq of Bravo TV’s Married to Medicine. Several outstanding women were awarded for their outstanding achievements in their communities including Karen Johnson, Krista Bourne, Barbara Harris Curtis, Sr., Kandi Eastman, Debbie Festari, Dr. Joanie Hare, Kristyn Page, Kysha Reid, Dr. Docia Rudley, Hawa Stinson, and Lashica Salter-Velazquez. Sheryl Howard, mother of 8-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard, was recognized with the Woman of Courage award.
