Photography by Vicky Pink On Thursday, September 25, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel during Congressional Black Caucus Foundation 44th Annual Legislative Weekend as the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) hosted the Black Press Champion Awards Presentations and Reception. NNPA recognized Congressman John Lewis (D-Georgia), Lana "MC Lyte" Moorer, Margaret Fortune, and Melvin Foote for their exemplary leadership skills in the black community and their respective areas of expertise as well as their ongoing support of the Black Press. Multi-award winning recording artist CeCe Peniston performed and NNPA Chairman Cloves Campbell introduce Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. as the NNPA's new president and CEO. Some in attendance were Jocelyn K. Allen, Rep. Charles Rangel, Cheryl Pearson-McNeil, Dawn Paul, and DeNeshia Bell.
