Photography by Vicky Pink On Saturday, January 24, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Crowne Plaza for the Houston Black Real Estate Association Awards and Installation Gala. Under the theme “Building a Rich Legacy,” the HBREA installed their 2015 officers and Board of Directors and women’s Council of HBREA. In addition, awards were for Newcomer of the Year, Nina B. Kemp, Salesperson of the Year, Charles Thomas New Home Sales Professional of the Year, Judson W. Robinson Sr. Realtist of the Year and Past President Scholarship. Rep Sylvester Turner was the keynote speaker. HBREA has the mission of ensuring democracy in the real estate industry and provide housing opportunities. Some in attendance were Gerald Womack, John Guess III, Nola Lusk, Carolyn Matthews, Samica Knight, Renita Scroggins, Kimberley Barnes Henson, Donnell Spivey, Rev. Alexander Johnson, Felicia Guidry, Creacla Williams, Juan Crawford, Larry Brooks, Jackie Cooper, Chandra Ware, Karen Grays, LaDonna Parker, Latisha Grant, Louis Ray, Lilly Jefferson, Marsha Fisk, Darryl Bowles, Cameron Hill, Courtney Rose, Sheila Collette, and Harriet Vital.
