Photography by William Ealy - On Saturday, May 16, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Fountain of Life Center for The Go Red Girlfriend Health Symposium - Taste of Soul Reception. The activities of the weekend were meant to empower, educate and equip African-American women to live heart healthy lives. The interactive cooking session presented by the American Heart Association (AHA) and sponsored by H-E-B gave attendees tips on how to cook and eat healthier. The event chair was Karen Carter Richards and the honorary chair was Sheryl Howard. Some in attendance were AHA's Kelly Hodges, HISD Board Trustee Wanda Adams, Miss Texas International Elise Banks, Vanessa Reed, Theresa Roemer, Jamie Bertrand, Rebecca Briscoe, Nakia Cooper, Chef "DC" Williams, Chef Dee Dee Coleman, Chef Bella Davis, and Chef Timothy Sadler.
