Photography by Vicky Pink - Houstonians had a ball with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner at his 9th Annual Family Day. It was a fun time for all attendees. Entertainment was provided by J. Paul Jr., Zydeco Nubreeds, Aldine Carver High School dance and theater students, Rice University’s Luna Llena Mariachi Band, Eisenhower High School’s Jazz Band and the M. C. Williams Middle School Orchestra. Mayor Turner with “City Hall All Stars’ made up of his staff and City Councilmembers played a little celebrity softball. Since baseball is a major focus of Turner Park with many games played by Major League Baseball’s Urban Youth Academy. Local kids from the Academy’s RBI teams participated in pitch, hit and run competitions and played a game. There was something for everyone from aged 1 to 100.
