Photography by Vicky Pink - Look out Houston the Third Ward area will soon start changing. The Wells Fargo Foundation has gifted The Northern Third Ward Consortium, a coalition of nonprofits including Change Happens, Change Happens CDC, Project Row Houses, Row House CDC, The University of Houston, Wheeler Avenue Triangle Ministries and the William A. Lawson Institute for Peace and Prosperity, with a $100,000 planning grant to develop a revitalization plan for the Northern Third Ward area over the next 12 months. The plan will be a comprehensive, resident-driven revitalization plan to address the needs residents, business owners, and others in the community. Some in attendance were Wells Fargo Darryl Montgomery and Cary Yates, Interim Houston Police Chief Martha I. Montalvo, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Dr. Elwyn Lee, Houston City Councilman Dwight Boykins, Change Happens Rev. Leslie Smith and Helen Stagg, WALIPP’s Rev. William A. Lawson and Cheryl Lawson, and DeLloyd Parker.
