Photography by Roswitha Vogler - Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Council gave pause to celebrate the City of Houston at the 180th Birthday Reception complete with a huge cake. A small reception was held where Mayor Turner, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, and Heritage Society Executive Director Alice Collette gave remarks. Dr. Robin Davidson, City of Houston Poet Laureate, provide a poetry reading and City Member Robert Gallegos gave the welcome. All enjoyed the fabulous cake as they toasted Houston.
