Photography by Vicky Pink - The City of Houston and the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee have partnered with public artist Reginald Adams on a youth community arts project designed to inspire creativity in Houston’s children and commemorate the City’s hosting of Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. Four mural sites have been identified throughout Houston, one of which is located at Cuney Homes (3260 Truxillo Street). The theme of this mural is Empowerment, and the tableau celebrated the legacies of Norris Wright Cuney, Diane Sheffield, and Louie Vincent – civic pioneers who worked to lead, mentor, and empower and strengthen the Houston community. Houston City Council Member Amanda Edwards, At-Large Position 4 participated in a paint session at Cuney Homes with youth and spoke with them on civic engagement.
