Photography by Jo-Carolyn Goode - On Sunday, January 31, 2016, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Westin Galleria as the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Houston Metropolitan Area Chapters held their annual Founders’ Day Celebration. Under the theme “Launching New Dimensions of Service: Honoring Our Past, Embracing the Vision,” the ladies of pink and green honored the 16 founders of their sorority along with the charter members of the 19 area chapters. Melinda Spaulding was the keynote speaker while Gregory A. Daniels provided entertainment. Some in attendance were Bonita Green Gambrell, Tracey Lewis, Teri Toliver-Hailey, Tondra Allen, Travette Webster, Joyce Schells, Constance Norfleet, Sophia Willis, Jourdan Kerl, Amanda Trinity, Jessica Kelly, Carolyn Jones, Candice Richmond, Madelyn Nunn, Ardener Franshaw, and LaDonna Harris.
