Photography by Mike Munoz and Vicky Pink - On Friday, February 5, 2016, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at University of Houston – Hofheinz Pavilion for a Final Four Prep Rally on the Literacy Competition. Houston ISD, NCAA Men’s Final Four, and University of Houston partnered up to host the Final Four Literacy Competition. Eight hundred third grade students participated in the Read to the Final Four bracket competition literacy program. During the event, the Final Four schools advancing in the competition were announced. Schools have advanced in the bracket competition by having the highest number of minutes read by students that are documented on reading logs submitted every six weeks. At the completion of the last round, close to three million minutes had been logged. All students received free library cards and the top reader from each school received a bike from Cycle. This program is a partnership between the 2016 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® Local Organizing Committee, NCAA® Team Works, HISD, Houston Public Library and CYCLE. Some in attendance were Lance Menster, Dr. Rhea Lawson, Coach Kelvin Sampson, Doug Hall, and David Entrekin.
