Photography by Vicky Pink - In an effort to arm community members, patients and community leaders with knowledge on how to properly respond to those with Sickle Cell disease, the Sickle Cell Association - Marc Thomas Foundation hosted an Empowerment Conference. This conference featured doctors, social workers, mental health professionals, and local community leaders in order to discuss health and wellness initiatives for families affected by sickle cell disease. Some in attendance were Linda Wade, Sharon Newcomb, Dr. Alysian Thomas, Dr. Modupe Idowu, Stephen Williams, Paula Bell, Dr. Amber Yates, Karen Wallen, Dr. E’ea Jones, Dr. Courtney Miller-Chism, Mary Hudson, Jb Shay Collins, Brittany Nicole, Destine Rogers, Joya Ranel, Taronda Perkins, Jeannie Thomas, and Michael Moore.
