Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Hosts Houston Premiere of ‘Detroit’
Photography by Vicky Pink - Location – Sundance Bayou Place Theatre - Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee hosted a private premier of the history-based drama ‘Detroit’. It was the ONLY Texas premiere for the movie about the importance of criminal justice reform. ‘Detroit’ stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jason Mitchell, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Detroit’s 1967 12th Street Riot. The movie was preceded by a panel discussion about criminal justice reform and community-oriented policing. Some in attendance were Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, - Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and other special guests.
