Photography by Vicky Pink - Over 350 people attended the annual gala hosted by the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA). Honorary Gala Chair and former AAMA Board Chairman Roland Garcia introduced keynote speaker Mayor Sylvester Turner. Along with Karen and Roland Garcia, Martha and Demetrius Navarro served as Gala Chairs. A posthumous award was presented to AAMA Co-Founder Yolanda Black Navarro’s son in memory of his mom. More than $250,000 was raised to further AAMA’s mission to the community. Some in attendance were AAMA Executives Joe Jimenez and Debbie Ortiz; Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee; State Reps.
