Photography by Vicky Pink - The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 47th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global black community. Everyone from political leaders to concern citizens descended on the Nation’s Capital to engage in solution making discussions on economic development, civil and social justice, public health and education issues. More than 10,000 people attended 100 public policy forums and more. The conference theme, “And Still I Rise” reflects a legacy of resilience that emphasizes the collective strength of the black community to rise above continued racial inequalities. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is the Chair of the CBCF Board of Directors. A. Shuanise Washington is the CBCF president and CEO of CBCF. Congresswoman Robin Kelly of Illinois and Congressman Marc Veasey of Texas served as honorary co-chairs of this year’s conference.
