Photography by Vicky Pink The Houston Black Real Estate Association, (HBREA) a local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), were busy as they hosted a week-long series of events in observance of the trade association’s dedication to increasing Black wealth through home ownership. The association also celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Attendees at the Community Day Housing Expo learned how to pay less to own a home than rent. The event was part of HBREA’s ongoing mission of helping families to achieve homeownership. Some in attendance were Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, HBREA chapter president Kimberley Barnes-Henson, Courtney Johnson Rose, Bishop James Dixon, Judy Burfict, Kyle Cartwright, LaWona Cartwright, Charlette Thomas, and Jemila Winsey.
