2018 Mayor’s Jazz Brunch
Photography by Vicky Pink - Mayor Sylvester Turner showcased his conductor skills at the annual Mayor’s Jazz Brunch. This event featured performances by students from the Summer Jazz Program and national recording jazz artists. Funds raised support Houston youth’s musical education through scholarships. Mayor Turner announced the brunch will expand to a jazz fest in the fall of 2019. Some in attendance were Kyle Turner, James Harris, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Erica Lee Carter, State Rep. Ron Reynolds, Dr. Jonita Reynolds, Rachel and Councilman Jerry Davis, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Rep. Alma Allen, Councilwoman Martha Castex Tatum, Georgia Provost, Melinda Spaulding, Ernest Walker, Fred Hoyer, and Mary Benton.
