3rd Year of Joy Holiday Ice Skating Party
Photography by Vicky Pink - Joy Sewing once again shared her love for ice skating with 100 children from Houston’s Third Ward community at her annual Year of Joy Holiday Ice Skating Party. The affair that was powered by Green Mountain Energy was a fun time for students from Peck and Blackshear Elementary Schools, Southside Community Center and Hype Freedom School Powered by My Brother’s Keeper Houston. Every child received a copy of Sewing’s book “Ava and the Prince,” along with a goodie bag. H-E-B, Russo’s New York Pizzeria, Dr. Kathy Flanagan, Dr. Yasmine Haddad, Brigitte Kalai and CSI, Houston Rockets, KRIV Fox 26, Discovery Green, Ice Rink Events, and Houston Chronicle all supported the event. Some joining in the fun were Mayor Sylvester Turner, H-E-B Vice President Winell Herron, Brandi Brown, Robyn and Reagan Leggington, Miss Houston Lisa Forger, Miss Harris County Niza Garcia, and Texas Southern University’s Royal Court.
