Photography by Vicky Pink - The Houston Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston) hosted its 17th annual banquet themed “Faith Led, Justice Driven.” Following their mission to be the leading voice for the Houston Muslim community, the affair featured Linda Sarsour and Hassan Shibly as keynote speakers and Roula Alouch as Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Sylvester Turner declared December 9th as CAIR-Texas, Houston Day in the city. Ester L. King, Ovide Duncantell, and Munira Bungee were all honored during the banquet. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee gave remarks and presented a congressional proclamation. Some in attendance were CAIR-HOUSTON Board President and Chair Mohammed Nasrullah, Wasiq Javed, and Sherry Browning.
