AKA-Alpha Kappa Omega 90th Gala
Photography by William Ealy - The first and oldest chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Houston, Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter, celebrated 90 years of sisterhood and service at their anniversary gala. Over 700 people filled the ballroom as Texas Southern University’s Dr. Austin Lane and his wife Loren Lane introduced each of the past presidents of the chapter. A highlight of the evening was the donation of $10,000 to TSU by the chapter in partnership with Bayway Lincoln. Some in attendance included AKA International 1st Vice President Danette Reed, AKA South Central Regional Director Katina Semien, former AKA International Presidents Mattelia B. Grays and Faye B. Bryant, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, chapter president Marsha Penn, chapter president-elect Cherise Story, other Houston area AKA chapter presidents, and a host of others.
