During the reception, guests enjoyed an art painting exhibition and a Vietnamese long dress show (Women’s Ao dai). Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was on hand for a formal Congressional presentation. Under the direction of Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Van Hoa, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston continues to bridge friendships and relationships with the US and Vietnam. This relationship has expanded the US consular district from Ho Chi Minh city to 22 provinces in the southern part of Vietnam. The Vietnamese Lunar New Year is the most important celebration in Vietnamese culture. It celebrates the arrival of spring and is based on the Vietnamese calendar.
