Grand Opening of Ray's BBQ
Courtesy of Ray’s BBQ - Nearly 1000 Houstonians came to Ray's BBQ Shack to show their support and eat some of the best BBQ in the City of Houston. After official ribbon cutting and City of Houston proclamation presentation, the grand opening celebration launched with the first BBQ Food Challenge, a 5-pound smoked enthused eating competition. Original Texan Chester Pitts, Legendary Ballerina Lauren Anderson and Houston Texans DJ Reader judged the participants. John Hopkin won the food challenge in just 35 minutes. There were also free give-aways, games, Face-Painter for the kids, Live Music from Collage Band featuring lead vocalist Uneeda Freeman and Saxophonist Will Fortune and the same smoked BBQ. Others in attendance wereowner Ray Busch, Maxine Davis, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, Former NFL Pro-Bowler Wade Smith, City Councilman Dwight Boykins, and former NFL player Herb Taylor.
