Photography by Jasmine Sims - The Knights of Peter Claver was founded over 100 years ago to allow men of color membership in a Catholic fraternal society. Over 90 years ago the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary was established to cater to ladies. Together these two organizations celebrate their Catholic faith. The Council and Court #238 of this organization celebrated their 35th anniversary at their annual banquet where they reviewed the works of the previous, honored those who went above the call of duty, and enjoy fellowship and faith. The occasion was marked with a proclamation from Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. Charlotte Davis, Cecilia Nelms, Nita Dave, Genevieve Hines, Martha Washington, and many others were recognized for their outstanding service and membership.
