Photography by Vicky Pink - In celebration of this 50th Houston Jazz Month Season, the Houston International Jazz Festival commemorated the legacy of August Jazz Month. The kick-off featured the Summer Jazz Workshop (SJW) All-Stars. Following that was a concert, “A Night of Jazz, Keys, and Song” shining the spotlight on featured artists, Pianist Alex Bugnon and Songstress Oleta Adams. The weekend closed out with the Annual SJW Scholarship Jazz Brunch, featuring celebrity guest conductor(s) ceremoniously using the baton of Arturo Toscanini – famous conductor of the NBC Symphony Orchestra in 1950. It was a fun-filled weekend for the entire family.
