Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee Statement on Supreme Court Ending the Use of Race in College Admissions

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a decision that effectively ends the use of race as a factor in university admissions. The court issued the decision in Students for Fair Admission, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, ruling that Harvard’s and UNC’s admissions programs violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution.

For the past 3 years, Roderick Batons has provided opportunities for those with autism and disabilities through his company, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream. After employing dozens with disabilities and seeing their passion to strive to have independence, lead, and live normal lives, Batson quickly grew a new love and respect for the disability community. On September 17th, Batson alongside his business partner Mr. Williams opened Essential Speech & ABA Clinic in Cypress. The grand opening was the ultimate family friendly and community event that consisted of food trucks, a car show, snow cones, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, face painting, tours of the facility, and a train ride around the facility.
