The finding contrasts starkly with the association’s analysis of government data released today that showed a majority of the nation’s metro areas added construction jobs through February.

Today, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and nearly 400 medical professionals issued a demand letter to the United States Department of Health and Human Services and its relevant sub-agencies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) calling for the release of daily racial and ethnic demographic data related to COVID-19 testing, cases, and patient outcomes. The Lawyers’ Committee also filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the CDC seeking race and ethnicity data for COVID-19 tests, cases and outcomes.

First, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo yesterday extended the "Stay Home, Work Safe" Order until April 30. The order requires everyone to remain at home unless they are conducting essential business such as grocery shopping, going to the pharmacy, picking up food or going to work at businesses that are deemed essential.

Governor Abbott Announces $14.1 Million In Grants To Texas Military Communities
Governor Greg Abbott today announced a new round of grants totaling $14.1 million from the Texas Military Preparedness Commission’s (TMPC) Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) program awarded to various military communities across the state. This program assists defense communities that may be positively or negatively impacted by a future Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) round. The grant money will be invested in infrastructure projects and other initiatives to increase the military value of military installations in Texas and protect jobs.
Harris County Reports Second Death Related to COVID-19
Health authorities urge residents to stay home and social distance
It is with great sadness that Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is reporting the second COVID-19 related death of a resident in Harris County (outside the City of Houston). The woman, between the ages of 50-60 years old, lived in the northwest quadrant of Harris County. She had known exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case and had underlying health issues. She was tested positive with COVID-19 after death and Harris County Institute of Forensic Science determined her primary cause of death as COVID-19.
