Rep. Reynolds Proudly Files HCR 22 Urging Congress to Impeach President Trump

On June 12, 2017, U.S. Representatives Al Green and Brad Sherman filed an article of impeachment against President Donald John Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. The article states that President Trump has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice and he has exhibited a pattern of behavior calculated to thwart investigations being conducted by federal law enforcement officials into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, including inquiries into the activities of Michael Flynn, his former national security advisor, and into possible collusion by members of his campaign staff and other associates.
I fully support Congressman Al Green and Congressman Sherman on their article of impeachment and I have filed HCR 22 urging the United States Congress to impeach President Trump. Starting on his inauguration day, Trump had already set himself up for potentially impeachable offenses by refusing to sever himself from his global business empire, leaving him open to conflicts of interest that are prohibited in the Constitution. Since then, Trump has only continued pushing the limits of conflict of interest rules, while the federal investigations into his campaign's potential ties to Russia have led to constant scandals in the White House. Now, President Trump is under investigation for obstruction of justice, over the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
No one is above the law, not even the President! He should be charged, by way of impeachment, by the U.S. House of Representatives. Whether the President is found guilty is a separate action for the U.S. Senate to decide. President's Trumps actions are illegal, unacceptable and unbecoming of our President of the United States of America. Our country is faced with a president whose conduct strongly suggests that he poses a danger to our republic system of government and cannot be trusted to continue in office.
I realize it will require serious commitment to constitutional principle, and courageous willingness to put devotion to the national interest above self-interest and party loyalty, for a Congress of the president's own party to initiate an impeachment inquiry, but it must be done to protect and preserve our country.
