It’s the beginning of a new era in Harris County. After 30 years in office, Commissioner Steve Radack has decided not to run for reelection. That leaves an open seat for Harris County Commissioner in Precinct 3.

Michael Moore, Democratic Candidate for Harris County Commissioner, Precinct 3, made the following statement:

“While I disagree with many, many positions Commissioner Radack has taken over the years, I do thank him for his over 30 years of public service. I also commend the commissioner on his focus on parks and hike and bike trails.

“We’re moving into a new era of county government, and I plan to focus on the basics: improved flood control and more green infrastructure, new transit solutions and relief from traffic congestion, better parks, trails and safer communities, a stronger, better Harris County health care system, and transparent and efficient county government.”

Michael Moore was born and raised in Harris County. Michael served as Chief of Staff to former Houston Mayor Bill White the entire time he was mayor. He helped lead a team that managed the fourth largest city in our country with an almost $2 billion dollar budget and with more than 20,000 employees. Michael helped lead on issues from transportation to emergency management, to public safety economic development, to parks and green spaces.

Michael is a former presidential appointee to the U.S. Department of Energy. Michael has worked in Houston as a strategist in the energy, transportation and communications fields.

Michael is a husband and father of two girls. He is married to Kathryn McCarter Moore who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving veterans at the DeBakey VA Medical Center.
