ABOUT KELLY MORAN:
New York Native Kelly Moran is a printmaker and object maker who lives and works in Houston, TX. She is currently maintaining a printmaking studio in Houston Heights. She is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts and The New Orleans Contemporary Museum. Her works are in numerous private collections and corporate collections. She has exhibited throughout Texas and also nationally and internationally.
Her artistic practice draws on contemporary events, personal life, and intuition to compose her well-crafted, multi layered universal images. Kelly is an avid collector of ephemera from the 1800’s to 1970’s, getting constant inspiration from their time-specific and timeless color combinations. They are mined by Kelly to find treasured images from another time that speak volumes about our culture, where we are now and then. The content of her images can be straight forward or not.
Kelly Moran has a BFA in painting from Louisiana Tech University 1982. She studied ceramics at the University of Houston graduate program 1983-84, participated in the artist collective “Little Egypt Enterprises”, 1984-87 and was associate director of “Texas Collaborative”, 2003-2011, a place where national and international artists collaborated to make prints.
