Once again, the Houston Astros organization continues to show how committed they are to the citizens of Houston and surrounding areas. The Astros Foundation has teamed up with Chevron to provide school supplies to 500 children from New Hope Housing and Star of Hope as part of their Wins for Kids program.
A caravan featuring Orbit and the Astros Shooting Stars will deliver backpacks filled with school supplies to children at the two facilities. Along with a $20,000 donation to each organization, all backpacks will contain a spiral notebook, two folders, an Astros hat, a Wins for Kids face mask, and fun activities that can be done at home.
The Wins for Kids program was established in 2019 to provide a positive impact to the youth for those in need.
“We are so proud to partner with the Astros Foundation,” said Nicole Barber, the Public Affairs Manager for Chevron. “We hope that this partnership will prepare kids to learn whether at home or in the classroom. Wins for Kids is all about coupling exciting moments in sports with learning. To inspire today’s kids to pursue tomorrow’s careers.”
