The Astros are doing what everyone of us does when we seem to be in a funk at work or at home. They are headed on a road trip that will hopefully bring them better results than their last homestand. Houston went 1-5 against the Oakland A’s and Detroit Tigers who were led by their former manager A.J. Hinch.

“We were playing well on the road but couldn't get it together at home," said Astros manager Dusty Baker after Houston was swept by the Tigers.

Now the Astros head back out West on Friday to face the Seattle Mariners who sit atop of the A.L. West with an 8-5 record. They will hope to get the bats reignited as they have cooled down since the last West Coast swing only producing 13 runs in the last five games and four home runs.

The Astros may be without some of their biggest bats in the lineup against the Mariners as Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Alex Bregman who have been placed on the injured list under the leagues COVID-19 protocol on health and safety.

Being run deficient isn’t the only problem Houston has as the starting pitching rotation has let them down in this current five-game losing streak. Zack Greinke, Jake Odorizzi, and Lance McCullers Jr. had a rough outing in their last three starts giving up a combined 17 runs, 21 hits and six home runs and neither pitcher made it to the fifth inning.

“Anytime you give up multiple runs in a mid-game inning it's usually a tough one to come back from,” Odorizzi said after his first loss an Astros starter on Tuesday.

First pitch is 9:10 p.m. cst.
