No matter how few and far between they have come, the Houston Rockets enjoy every victory they get. After defeating the Dallas Mavericks at home, the Rockets lost five games in a row, but was able to get a much-needed win on Sunday to break the losing streak with a win over the Orlando Magic by a score of 114-110.

“I am super proud of my team,” said Rockets head coach Stephen Silas who only played eight players against the Magic. “I was racking my brain all day trying to figure out the rotation because I knew we weren’t going to have ball handlers on the floor. So, for them to go out there and play their hearts out…I’m happy about it.”

One other reason coach Silas was so happy after the game was the play of forward Christian Wood and center Kelly Olynyk. The two combined for 49 points on Sunday and have grown very familiar with each other on the offensive and defensive end.

“I love playing with him,” said Wood about Olynk. “He creates opportunities for me, and I create opportunities for him.

Houston trailed by as many as 12 points during the game and was down by six points at the half. The Rockets have played great in the second half of games late in the season due to the halftime adjustments made by coach Silas and his staff. On Sunday night, coach Silas inserted a new wrinkle into the adjustment by adding sharpshooter Armoni Brooks into the game in the fourth quarter. Brooks, who played at the University of Houston had 10 points connecting on all three-point shots he attempted.

“We let him play…like we had absolutely no idea who he was,” said Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford of Brooks.

The Rockets will face the Miami Heat on Monday and will welcome back point guard John Wall who sat out Sunday’s game for rest purposes.
