I know it has been a while since the fans of Houston have been able to say this, but the Astros are on a winning streak. After awakening the bats on Thursday night, defeating the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 8-2, Houston dug deep to pull off a stunning 5-4 come from behind victory on Friday over the Angels.

Rookie Robel Garcia hit an RBI single to drive in Jason Castro in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure the Astros second straight victory.

“It was super fun,” said Garcia, who is working his way back into game shape as he had to sit out games due to being placed in health and safety protocol by MLB. “It was the first time I had a walk-off, so it was a great experience for me, just the trust the manager had in me in that spot and the coaches and teammates, as well.”

The Astros trailed the Angels 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning. Outfielder Kyle Tucker started off on second base per the new extra innings rule and was advanced over to third by a fly ball to the outfield by Aledmys Diaz.

Myles Straw helped the Astros close the gap to one-run as he beat out a routine infield hit to score Tucker from third. Jason Castro would help move Straw to third base with his double to right field and Carlos Correa hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game.

With the home crowd cheering, Garcia hit a line drive over the head of the Angels second baseman to bring home the winning run, which was also his first RBI of the season.

“I told him to, beat your old team,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said to Garcia who was claimed by the Houston when the Angels put him on waivers in February.

According to Elias Sports, Friday’s walk off victory was the first for the Astros after trailing by multiple runs in extra innings since Opening Day 1994 vs. Montreal.

Houston will be back in action against Los Angeles on Saturday as the first pitch is at 3:10 p.m. cst.
