There is an old saying that goes, “Home is where the heart is.” For the Houston Astros who have compiled a 5-1 home record since returning back to Minute Maid Park on last week, we definitely know their hearts are definitely sits off of 501 Crawford street.

Houston defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night by a score of 2-0 behind a brilliant pitching performance from starting pitcher Cristian Javier (3-0) who threw a career-high seven scoreless innings in the victory.

“He had a good breaking ball, and a good fastball,” said Houston manager Dusty Baker about Javier. “He gave us what we wanted. He gave us seven innings.”

Javier has been amazing in his last three starts and has not given up a run in seventeen consecutive innings, which includes an ERA of 0.87. His start was almost delayed as he had a small incident on his way to the mound for pregame warmups. He placed his cup of coffee that he drinks before every start in his glove and ended up spilling it on his uniform leaving a stain.

Instead of changing clothes, even though he was urged too by his teammates, he declined and wore the uniform the entire game.

“I was giving thanks to God and forgot that I had coffee in my glove, said Javier who also struck out six Mariners on the night. “

The Astros pitching combination of Javier and relievers Brooks Raley and Ryan Pressly did not allow a runner past second base for the entire game. Their command of the strike zone along with a Yordan Alvarez sacrifice fly and a Kyle Tucker RBI in the fourth inning was all Houston needed to get back to over .500 record at 12-11.

"We'll take these victories," Baker said after the game. "Back over .500, it's been a good homestand. We want to close out strong before we go on the road."

Houston will be back in action on Wednesday against the Mariners. First pitch is 7:10.
