On Sunday, the Astros Youth Academy hosted their College Signing Day at Minute Maid Park to recognize players that are signed to play college baseball or softball next season.

Daryl Wade, the Director of the academy spoke briefly before 23 players signed their letter of intents in front of family, friends, and representatives from the Houston Astros organization.

“Once Mr. Crane bought the team, we have been very well supported by the Astros,” said Wade before he gathered the athletes to be recognized before the game. “We can’t say enough about the organization and what they do for us.”

The academy teaches baseball and softball and provides educational programs to kids in the community and surrounding areas. All participants and their relatives gathered in the Club 42 room on the Club Level at Minute Maid Park.

In addition to the future college athletes being recognized, members of the Astros RBI Girls Softball team were also recognized during the pregame ceremony on Sunday. They recently earned a bid to return the RBI World Series by winning their regional tournament in Arlington, TX.

The team will be vying to become the first team to win three consecutive RBI World Series titles as they were back-to-back champions in 2018-19. This year’s World Series will take place in Vero Beach, FL, August 8-13.
