One thing we know for sure is. It has to end one day. Right? That is the only positive spin I can put on this current 11-game losing streak that the Houston Rockets are a part of.

Houston lost to the Memphis Grizzles on Sunday night by a score of 133-84. The 49-point loss is the worst of the season and the third-largest margin in franchise history.

“This was embarrassing,” said Rockets head coach Stephen Silas about the loss on Sunday.

As embarrassing as it was for coach Silas to watch it from the sidelines, it was more devastating for the Rockets players on the floor who watched the Memphis Grizzles reserve players outscore the entire Rockets team with 85 points off the bench. To add injury to insult. Houston shot 27% from the field and 8.9% from three-point range (4-of-45) for the game.

“It’s terrible,” said Rockets point guard John Wall after the game. “You lose 11 straight, it’s bad. A lot of those losses is not competing every night and some of those where we didn’t make shots. You can deal with those. The ones we’re not competing, that’s nothing you can accept. It’s my job to play better.”

The Rockets woes may continue for another game as the Cleveland Cavaliers come into town riding a three-game winning streak which includes a 112-96 victory over Houston on last week. Their confidence is at an all-time high as they defeated the Eastern Conference leaders, Philadelphia 76ers in their last game 112-109 in overtime.

"We know what we can do. We are all confident in ourselves," said Cavaliers guard Colin Sexton who has posted eight consecutive 20-point games including 23 against the Rockets in the last meeting. "We know we should have a better record. Now it's just time to string wins along. No matter what, when we go to battle and we do what we have to do, I feel like we're capable of beating anybody."

In order for Houston to have any chance of breaking the current losing streak, they cannot allow a repeat performance from Cavs starting center Jarrett Allen who tied his career high in points with 26 and collected 18 rebounds during the process.

"At 22 years old, Jarrett is not near his potential ceiling and that's the part I'm most excited about," said Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff in the postgame press conference after defeating Houston last month.
